NHL Double Series - Final Updates

Welcome back!  Today's post is the finale of my NHL Double Series, and it features updated designs for five concepts (mostly minor updates).  Let's get started...

My Ideal Buffalo Sabres
I originally had the hem stripes on the road jersey matching the sleeve stripes, but I decided to switch to mis-matched stripes (like the Sabres current jerseys).  I also used the updated version of their logo.

My Ideal Carolina Hurricanes
Updates here include; removing the pant stripe, ditching the red yoke on the road jersey, and switching to red numbers on that jersey as well.

New Look Colorado Avalanche
I was never entirely happy with my New Look Avalanche concept, especially the way it used black throughout the design.  So like the Avalanche did in real life, I ditched black all-together (besides the puck in the logo).  I also thickened the trim along the hem and cuffs, and added a pant stripe.

My Ideal Los Angeles Kings
It's a pretty minor change, but the piping no longer has a tapered end (it originally tapered away before the collars).

My Ideal Vancouver Canucks
Now that the Abbotsford Canucks have adopted Johnny Canuck as their logo, I've updated this concept to use the Canucks modern stick-in-the-rink logo (I recoloured it on the road jersey).

Here's a look at all 64 concepts from this series, one division at a time...

Pacific Division

Central Division

Atlantic Division

Metropolitan Division

You may or may not have noticed, but all 10 teams that were originally on the Reebok Edge template have been updated to the Adidas Adizero template (including four of the concepts featured above).

All of these concepts can also be found in full-size on the NHL Double Series page.

That's a wrap for this series, thanks for following along!

NHL Double Series - Suggested Revisions

Hello!  Today's post (the penultimate of my NHL Double Series) features revisions suggested from viewers like you.  Most of the suggestions come from CCSLC (Chris Creamer's Sports Logos Community, also known as the SportsLogos.Net forums).

My Ideal Arizona Coyotes (Revision #1)
CCSLC user B-mer suggested I add a black line above the Kachina pattern on the road jersey of my "Ideal" Coyotes concept.

My Ideal Arizona Coyotes (Revision #2)
Then CCSLC user vtgco recommended I surround the Kachina pattern in black on the home jersey as well.

New Look Buffalo Sabres
Here I added more stripes to the hem of my New Look Sabres concept (as suggested by CCSLC user ldconcepts), and ditched the Buffaslug shoulder logos (suggested by both ldconcepts and CCSLC user hockey week).

New Look Calgary Flames
On my New Look Flames set I flipped the red and maroon stripes to create a sorta gradient design, as requested by vtgco.

My Ideal Columbus Blue Jackets
The colours on the hem of my "Ideal" Blue Jackets road jersey were swapped to be mostly navy, suggested by vtgco.

New Look Columbus Blue Jackets
This revision of my New Look Blue Jackets set replaces Stinger with the cannon logo, again suggested by vtgco.

New Look Detroit Red Wings
Changes to this New Look Wings concept include; ditching the pant stripe, recolouring the pant logo red, removing the white stripe at the top of the home jerseys' sleeves, and going with a leather coloured helmet.  All changes suggested by vtgco.

New Look Florida Panthers
B-mer recommended I use the Panthers current numbers on my New Look Panthers concept.

My Ideal Nashville Predators
B-mer also thought I should try a yellow yoke on the road jersey of my "Ideal" Predators set.

New Look New York Islanders (Revision #1)
CCSLC user DTConcepts suggested I add the Islanders four-stripe motif to the arms here on the New Look concept, and remove them from the back numbers.

New Look New York Islanders (Revision #2)
B-mer then added a request for a version of the concept with plain arm and sock stripes.

New Look New York Rangers (Revision #1)
DTConcepts suggested I add seafoam green to the striping pattern of my New Look Rangers design.

New Look New York Rangers (Revision #2)
Later on vtgco proposed I connect the cuffs to the arm stripes on the road jersey.

New Look Seattle Kraken
Another vtgco suggestion was to thicken the hem stripes and lower the logo of my New Look Kraken concept.

My Ideal Winnipeg Jets
In a comment here on the blog, Chase A. Carlson recommended I add more navy to the road jersey of my "Ideal" Jets set.

New Look Winnipeg Jets
Lastly back on CCSLC, TheRealPepman proposed I use white for the home jersey's name and numbers on my New Look Jets set.

Thanks for stopping by, and thank you to everyone for all the comments and suggestions throughout this series!  The next post will be the finale of this series.

NHL Double Series - Unused Designs

Welcome back!  Today I'm sharing unused versions of my "New Look" concepts for the Islanders and Capitals.

New Look New York Islanders (Unused)
I ended up going with a normal chest stripe for the actual concept, but as you can see my initial idea was to use the stick-blade (from their secondary logo) as the main design element.

New Look Washington Capitals (Unused)
The final version I went with for the Capitals was based off of their original pant design, but I also considered this variation that was inspired by the flag of Washington DC.

That's all for now!  Come back tomorrow to see some updated NHL Double Series concepts based off of suggestions from the audience.

Double Kraken

Hello and Merry Christmas!  I started my NHL Double Series in May of 2016, back when the NHL only had 30 teams.  Now there are 32 teams of course, and I've finally completed the last remaining team!

My Ideal Seattle Kraken
I think the Seattle Kraken have a great set of jerseys, so the changes I made for my "Ideal" set are minor.  I flipped the order of the hem stripes on the road jersey, and I also slightly thickened the red stripe throughout.

New Look Seattle Kraken
Kraken lurk in the deep depth of the sea, so I went with a wave design that transitions from their "Shadow Blue" to their "Deep Sea Blue".  The TV numbers replaced their anchor/space-needle logo on the shoulders, so I added that logo to the pants and helmets.

So that's the last team of this series, but I'm not quite done yet.  I'm working on some updates for a few of the teams, and I have a couple of unused designs to share as well.  See you in 2022!

Double Canadiens

Hello folks!

My Ideal Montreal Canadiens
I didn't make any major changes for my ideal Canadiens set, only recolouring the collars and switching to a single outline for the numbers on the road jersey.  I know some people want the Canadiens to match their white jersey to the red, but I don't think they should.

New Look Montreal Canadiens
This concept takes inspiration from the Canadiens' 1911-12 sweater which featured a diagonal sash, but I simplified the stripes down to only one colour.  I also used a darker shade of blue, and a rounded font for the numbers.  The pant stripe features 24 Canadiens logos, one for each of their Stanley Cup victories (using the era-appropriate logo for each championship).

That's all for now!

Double Red Wings

Hello!

My Ideal Detroit Red Wings
The only change I made here is a slight tweak to the road jersey's collar.  I see no reason to mess with the Red Wings classic look.

New Look Detroit Red Wings
For my "New Look" concept I decided to go with a fauxback design.  The striping pattern is the same on each jersey, with just the base colour changing (their current jerseys do this as well).  I also went with a darker shade of red, a vintage version of their winged-wheel logo, plus canvas and leather coloured pants and gloves.

See you later, and happy Thanksgiving weekend to all my fellow Canadians!

Double Capitals

Welcome back again!

My Ideal Washington Capitals
This is a pretty common idea for Capitals concepts, the Weagle on a modernized version of their original jerseys.  I kept their current name and number fonts, and added some stars as a hanger effect.

New Look Washington Capitals
For this concept my inspiration was the Capitals original set of pants.  Blue becomes the main colour (it just worked better that way), and I used their current third jersey logo as the crest.  This design would probably work better for an all-star game, but I wanted to try it here anyways.

Thanks for stopping by!

Double Blue Jackets

 Hello again!

My Ideal Columbus Blue Jackets
I quite like the design of the original Blue Jackets jerseys, so I went in that direction for my "Ideal" set.  I kept their current primary logo and fonts, but went back to their oval/hat logo on the shoulders (I don't like the cannon logo).

New Look Columbus Blue Jackets
The Blue Jackets were cowards and kept Stinger off of their Reverse Retro jersey.  For this concept I put him front and center.  I went with a double blue colour scheme for the jerseys when I noticed Stingers' uniform (hat and collar) use those colours.

See you next time!

Double Rangers

Good evening!

My Ideal New York Rangers
The Rangers have a classic set of jerseys, so the only change I made was removing the red from their collars.

New Look New York Rangers
Here I wanted to try a modern version of the Rangers lady liberty jerseys.  I simplified the logo outlines, and dropped silver from the colour scheme by replacing it with seafoam green.  I also went with two sets of pants, as I felt navy pants worked better with the road jersey.

Goodnight!

Double Coyotes

Happy Labour Day!

My Ideal Arizona Coyotes
I'm glad the Coyotes are returning to their Kachina jerseys, but I think they could be even better with some updates.  Here I kept their simpler (soon to be former) colour scheme, ditched the yokes, and used the Kachina coyote head as the primary logo.

New Look Arizona Coyotes
My next idea for the Coyotes was to try using their Kachina pattern both as a chest stripe and a sublimated pattern making up the base of the jerseys.  I then chose their paw-print logo as the primary, and used a different set of equipment for the home and road uniforms.

Thoughts?

Double Flames

Hello folks!  After a much shorter break than last time, I'm back with another duo of concepts for my NHL Double Series...

My Ideal Calgary Flames
In the past my ideal look for the Flames would have been based off of their 2003-07 set, but now that they've returned to their vintage set I don't think they should ditch them (although they should extend the home's hem stripe to the bottom of the jersey).

New Look Calgary Flames
The original idea for this concept was much different from the end result, with the dark red base being the only feature I kept from the first attempt.  I ended up using blasty as the primary logo, which resulted in me using a second brighter shade of red as an accent colour.

Thanks for visiting!

Double Islanders

Welcome back!  It's been a while since my last post, and a long time (more than a year) since I created any concepts for my NHL Double Series (which I started more than five years ago now)!

My Ideal New York Islanders
These jerseys are a return to the Islanders set they wore while winning four Stanley Cups.  The road jersey is identical to their current design except for the collar, but the home jersey uses a different striping pattern that I've always preferred.

New Look New York Islanders
The four stripe motif is overused when making Islanders concepts, but I decided to embrace it anyway.  I placed the four stripes front and center on a chest-stripe, while the actual logo is relegated to the shoulders (similar in concept to the Canucks' flying-V jerseys).  I also added four stripes to each of the numbers on the back.

Sorry again for the long gap between posts.  It's mostly due to a lack of ideas, but I also got a new puppy in early May so I've been spending lots of my free time with her.

She's a four month old yellow lab named Juno, she's really smart (she'll do anything for a treat) and also very energetic (I had forgotten how much work puppies are).

Lastly, I received my second Covid-19 Vaccination yesterday, and I just want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all the scientists, health care workers, and everyone else involved in this vaccination process.

That's all for now!

Double Golden Knights

Welcome back to another post for my NHL Double Series!  The Vegas Golden Knights are the only NHL team I've never made any concept for, but that ends today (at least with the second set, the first set hardly counts as a concept).

My Ideal Vegas Golden Knights:
As you can see, I barely made any changes for my "Ideal" Golden Knights concept.  I think their current jerseys are pretty much perfect, so all I really did was experiment with steel gray pants for the road jersey.

New Look Vegas Golden Knights:
Here I placed the hidden V from their logo on to the sleeve, and continued that line up to create an extended shoulder yoke.  Also I used gold numbers, and went with a steel gray pair of gloves for the white jersey.

See you later!

Double Jets

Hello folks!  I hope you're all doing okay.

My Ideal Winnipeg Jets:
I'm still not entirely sure what my ideal look for the Jets would be, but I like the idea of them embracing aviator blue, so I went in that direction here.  The striping pattern is based off of their current arm stripes, and the number font is a straightened version of their current font.

I actually made a very similar concept back in 2012.

New Look Winnipeg Jets:
Another old Jets concept of mine used a chevron pattern on the sleeve, and I burrowed that idea for this "New Look" concept.  The names and numbers are in a stencil font, the shade of red is brighter, and I removed the shading from the maple leaf in the logos.

Thanks for visiting, and stay safe!
