Leaked Oilers Third

Edmonton Oilers:
Just a quick post today with my take on the Oilers leaked third jersey.  I added back some white to the logo and numbers, and I also added an oil-drop to the sleeve stripes.

Double Stars

Hello all!

My Ideal Dallas Stars:
I like the Stars current jerseys but I think they'd benefit from some changes.  I made the equipment green, used their Texas-shaped logo on the shoulders, added an outline to the numbers, changed the collars, tweaked the shape of the yoke, and raised the home jersey's hem stripe.

New Look Dallas Stars:
The equipment is also green for this next concept, but that's because I ditched black all together.  I used a simple/minimalist striping pattern, promoted their Texas-shaped logo to the primary logo, and brought back the "DALLAS" script on the pants.

Unrelated to this post, but on my secondary blog (Snapshots with Steven) I recently posted some photos of my family's dog Luc.  He passed away earlier this month at the age of ten, so I'm sharing my favourite photos of him as a way to celebrate his life.

Thanks for visiting, and enjoy the rest of your week!

Double Predators

Howdy folks!

My Ideal Nashville Predators:
The Predators made a great decision back in 2011 when they updated their logos and switched to yellow as their primary colour.  However, I also loved how unique the striping pattern of their original jerseys were, so I tried to bring a bit of that back with this concept (I made a similar concept back in 2013).

New Look Nashville Predators:
My idea with this concept was to place the sleeve numbers in a guitar pick shape, and place those over top of the stripes.

Have a nice day!

Double Devils

Welcome back!

My Ideal New Jersey Devils:
These are just the Devils 1992-2017 jerseys transitioned to Adidas, without any unnecessary changes.

New Look New Jersey Devils:
Now we go from a timeless look to a more trendy design.  I brightened the shade of red, and eliminated white altogether from the home jersey.  The white jersey has no black, and gets its own set of pants and gloves.

Thanks for stopping by!

Double Penguins

Hello!

My Ideal Pittsburgh Penguins:
Besides the collars, there are no other changes here compared to the Penguins' current set.

New Look Pittsburgh Penguins:
I wanted to try a concept with the penguin separated from the golden triangle.  The triangle is now on the side of the jersey, which resulted in an asymmetric design with an off-centered logo.  I also changed the gloves in the logo to grey.

Have a happy Canada Day!

Goalie Gear Part 2

Since the NHL season is coming to a close tonight, I figured it was time for another goalie gear post.  You might remember from my previous post on the subject that I love when goalies wear dark goalie gear (light gear with custom graphics is okay too).  Several goalies debuted dark or custom gear since that last post, so let's take a look at them below.

Petr Mrazek

Back in February, Petr Mrazek switched to a set of black goalie gear that he wore up until the playoffs.  I really like the look of these, especially when they were paired with Carolina's red home jersey.

Collin Delia

Goalies often break out unique pads for outdoor games, but it's hard to beat this retro set from Collin Delia.  The "leather" coloured gear goes perfectly with the Blackhawks throwback jersey.

Cam Ward

Cam Ward also had special gear for the Winter Classic, but his was primarily black and had modern graphics.  It's a sharp look, but in my opinion doesn't beat the uniqueness of Delia's retro set-up.

Devan Dubnyk

You don't see "wheat" (or vintage white) coloured pads very often, but that's what Devan Dubnyk ended up wearing with the Wild's home jersey.

Pekka Rinne

Pekka Rinne has always worn white gear, but that changed late in the regular season when he debuted this navy blue set.

Juuse Saros

Rinne was likely inspired by his teammate Juuse Saros, who started wearing this yellow set earlier in 2019.  For some reason yellow pads are a particular favourite of mine.

Anders Nilsson

Anders Nilsson carried over his "beast" graphics when he was traded to Ottawa, simply swapping the Canucks colour scheme for Ottawa's red, black, and gold.

Carter Hart

Possibly meant to be paired with Philadelphia's Stadium Series series jersey, Carter Hart wore these black and orange pads with the Flyers third jersey towards the end of the season.

Casey DeSmith

Another goalie in yellow pads was Pittsburgh's Casey DeSmith.  Once again, I love the look of the yellow goalie gear!

Matt Murray

Black pads with yellow accents can also look sharp, as Matt Murray demonstrated with his Stadium Series set-up.

Louis Domingue

Tampa Bay's third jerseys were controversial, but their goalies bought in as they both had new sets of gear made to match.  Above is Louis Domingue in his silver and black design.

Andrei Vasilevskiy

Meanwhile Andrei Vasilevskiy went with a sharp mostly black look, with some silver accents.  I have to say, the Lightning's jersey doesn't look too bad in these two photos.

Garret Sparks

I love when Toronto breaks out their St. Pats jerseys to celebrate St. Patricks day, and Garret Sparks went all out with a custom retro set-up.

Malcolm Subban

Last but not least we have Malcolm Subban of the Vegas Golden Knights, who debuted these "steel gray" pads right at the end of the regular season.  Hopefully he keeps this design for next season.

Enjoy Game 7 tonight!

Past Concepts and the 2019 Stanley Cup Final

The Stanley Cup Final begins tonight with the Bruins facing off against the Blues, and (since I haven't posted anything in a while) I thought I would take this opportunity to look back at some of my past concepts for these two teams.

I've arranged the concepts into a seven game series of matchups, starting with the oldest concepts for game one and ending with the most recent concepts.

Game #1 (Bruins concept from March 2012, Blues concept from May 2012)
Both of these concepts are from my first NHL redesign series.  The Bruins are based off of their Orr-era jerseys, while the Blues design was influenced by some of their early jerseys.

Game #2 (Bruins concept from March 2012, Blues concept from July 2012)
Game two has Boston in a brown jersey, while St. Louis ditches yellow and their trumpet gets brought back as the front crest.  Also, notice the sublimated bear on the Bruins jersey.

Game #3 (Blues concept from May 2012, Bruins concept from March 2012)
For game three I used the third jerseys from my original NHL series, which results in a colour vs colour matchup.  The Blues jersey includes sublimated music-staff striping.

Game #4 (Blues concept from September 2013, Bruins concept from June 2013)
Next up we have concepts from my second NHL series (which I called a De-Edge series).  The players name on the Blues jersey was placed within the oversized shoulder yoke.

Game #5 (Bruins concept from January 2014, Blues concept from April 2014)
Here we have a couple of designs from 2014.  The Blues concept was mostly about trying a curved blue-note logo (the jersey striping is very similar their game one concept).

Game #6 (Blues concept from August 2018, Bruins concept from November 2017)
The game six (and seven) concepts come from my current NHL series.  These are my ideal looks for each team, the Blues are tweaked versions of their current set, while the Bruins are (once again) based off of their Orr-era look.

Game #7 (Bruins concept from November 2017, Blues concept from August 2018)
The Bruins are back in brown for the final game, but with an old gold instead of true yellow.  The curved blue-note logo from game five returns for the Blues.

Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy the Stanley Cup Final!

Double Panthers

Time for concepts!

My Ideal Florida Panthers:
I didn't change much about the Panthers current jerseys, the biggest difference being the blue added to the stripes.  The other tweaks are minor, for example the primary logo now says "Florida" on both jerseys.

New Look Florida Panthers:
Next up I wanted to try a concept with the underside of the sleeves being a contrasting colour.  The leaping panther becomes the primary logo, and I sublimated the Florida state flag (from the Panthers alternate logo) on the sleeves.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

2018-19 Templates

The "Templates" page is once again up to date, as I've added templates for the jerseys that have debuted so far this season.

That's all for now.  Thanks for visiting!
